About Passpack

Passpack was born as an Online Password Manager in December 2006, and has since become one of the industry leaders in Online Password Management thanks to the right combination of ease-of-use and high security.

Passpack is an online safe harbor for managing your private data and has coined itself as the first, and for now only, Online Privacy Manager on the market – it’s a product to watch as it evolves into this new role.

Passpack is free and available 24/7 online without installation.

Technology: Doing the Two Step

Passpack separates login into two steps: signing in, and unpacking user data. The Packing Key, Passpack’s name for the encryption key, has become its calling card.

Two step access is the corner stone of nearly all Passpack innovations. The anti-phishing pattern is a good example, as well as the “remember me” function, and upcoming OpenID support.

“Anti-phishing is a must for any online service, especially one that stores sensitive data. Passpack’s anti-phishing protection is made possible thanks to the Packing Key.”

- Tara Kelly, Passpack Founding Partner

One Click Auto-login… and Smart Too

Passpack’s auto-login tool, the Passpack It! button, has just added 1 Click Login.

Passpack is the only Online Password Manager to offer push-button login while you browse, with no plugin to install (press release).

How it works. The Passpack It! button, is what’s called a bookmarklet. To use it, users simply drag their Passpack It! button to the bookmarks bar. This can be done on an unlimited number of computers. There’s no limit, and there’s never any need to sync anything since the button doesn’t actually contain any login information.

“It’s an exciting innovation, that gives users the push-button ease of a plugin, but with the freedom to move around typical of online applications. It’s the best of both worlds really.”

- Tara Kelly, Passpack Founding Partner

It’s smart too. Another unique feature of the Passpack It! button is it’s ability to “learn” new websites. The users themselves can easily teach new websites to Passpack as they go. It’s a simple point-and-click process, and Passpack staff is always ready to step in to help set up tricky sites for users.

Learned websites are available to all users, so the more the tools gets used, the more everyone benefits.
