We’ve had some reports of some folks having a hard time using the Passpack It! button. This was due to our javascript not being able to read an URL for some combinations of browsers/websites. Just an update as you’re all being fabulously patient. We’ve already posted once about the release delays, but I’d like to expand on that a little bit.
UPDATE: I was told that this message was causing some confusion since the bug it adresses no loger exists. So I am crossing out, and removing, large sections of the post. It is here for posterity’s sake.
This fix has been tested and applied.
Missing Accounts? Well, no, they are not really missing. But there does seem to be a bit of confusion. In the last two days we have received a few emails from people who have created an account, only to come back and not find it there.
We’re thrilled with the positive response the new Passpack release is getting. The favorite feature seems to be the Import screen – I hope you’ve also started making your personal backups as well.
The two items which held up the Beta 4 Public Preview last Wednesday were the Anti-phishing Welcome Message and some visualization bugs with Internet Explorer. Just a quick update: the first has been solved, and the later is at a good point.
First, a huge THANK YOU to all those who found time in their busy schedules to test out the new Passpack and give us your feedback. You brought up some very interesting points – invaluable, I’d say. Here’s what we heard:
We just fixed a bug that created a little confusion: Firefox 2.0.0.2 was keeping a cache of the Password Manager page that made it appear as if new entries had disappeared. Signing out, then back in again, the entries reappeared.
We just fixed a bug that was blocking certain users from saving their changes. It’s been fixed now, but, as always, let us know should you come across something that doesn’t seem quite right. Thanks for your help!
Since Yesterday, PayPal is not sending us confirmation notification of the payments. So the system is unable to update the status of the accounts. We could do this manually, but when PayPal will solve the issue, it will probably send all the notifications and this could create worse issues. So, we are waiting for a while. If nothing happens, we will fix the updates manually.
UPDATE, Jan. 29. The strategy worked because PayPal sent all the notification at one moment, and all the accounts have been upgraded correctly.
We completed the performance improvement of Passpack moving the static files on a new server. This improves also the general security because it is now much harder for an attacker to try to inject Javascript code.
Passpack has discontinued Google Gears support. It was used with slow browsers like Internet Explorer 6 or 7. If you use one of these browsers, probably your account will become really slow without Google Gears. We strongly suggest to upgrade to IE 9 or to a totally different browser like Chrome.
