Missing Accounts? Well, no, they are not really missing. But there does seem to be a bit of confusion. In the last two days we have received a few emails from people who have created an account, only to come back and not find it there.
Here’s what’s going on
We have left a copy of the Beta 4 Preview online, even after having launched the Official release. The Preview and the official release use different databases. So when an account is “missing” it’s really just in the wrong place.
We’re sorry for the mix up. To avoid further problems, we’re going to disallow sign up on the preview so that no one else can make this mistake. However, if you have a missing account, no worries, please just read on for instructions.
Here’s how to fix it
If you had NOT inserted any passwords into your Preview account:
- Go to https://www.passpack.com and press the sign up button
- Create a new account, make sure to note the new Client Code as it will be different
If you had inserted passwords into your Preview account that you would like to recover:
- Go to
https://www.passpack.com/beta4preview(Preview No longer available) - Sign in to your preview account with the User ID, Pass and Packing Key that you originally chose.
- Once in, click on the “Tools” tab, then click the “Export” link.
- Choose the “I want to provide a different Backup Key” option, provide a temporary key and press “Continue”
- When the next screen appears, select all the text in the big blue box and copy it.
- Now, Open a new browser window and go to https://www.passpack.com and press the sign up button
- Create a new account, make sure to note the new Client Code as it will be different
- Once in, click on the “Tools” tab, then click the “Restore” link.
- Click in the big blue box and paste.
- Click the “The backup was encrypted using a specific Backup Key” option, provide your temporary key and press “Preview”
- If everything looks OK, press the “Import” button
- You’re all done, just make sure to Save your Pack before signing out.
Please let us know if you need any help, and thanks again for your patience.
